The Oregon Ducks football team was widely expected to be a threat in the Big Ten Conference once again in 2025. Even with quarterback Dillon Gabriel leaving for the NFL as well as a bunch of others, Oregon's roster is loaded with talent.
One significant player is wide receiver Evan Stewart, who was set to be a main piece of the offense with Dante Moore set to be the QB1.
However, it was revealed Thursday night that Stewart suffered a significant knee injury.
On Friday, Pete Nakos of On3 had a more concrete injury diagnosis for Stewart.
"Oregon wide receiver Evan Stewart is believed to have torn his patellar tendon this week, multiple sources tell @On3sports. Further tests are ongoing. The recovery time ranges from 3 to 12 months, depending on the severity of the injury."
Stewart had 613 yards and five touchdowns in 2024 despite sharing the workload with Tez Johnson and Traeshon Holden, both of whom are now in the NFL.
Stewart spent his first two seasons at Texas A&M before coming to Eugene, and 2025 was supposed to be a breakout campaign for the talented wide receiver.
But, this injury could sideline him for the majority - or even all - of the season in a tough blow to the Ducks offense. As Nakos reported, tests are "ongoing," but the early indications suggest Stewart will definitely be out to begin the 2025 season as they wait for a more firm timeframe.
