Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is ready and willing to help Ohio State football legend Will Howard, but their relationship has been a two-way street.
Rodgers is one of the most prolific quarterbacks in NFL history and his addition to the Steelers' roster is massive for Pittsburgh's hopes of competing in 2025.
The future Hall of Famer has made it very clear he's going to mentor Howard, who is the hopeful future franchise quarterback in Pittsburgh, in any way that he can while Howard sits behind Rodgers and Mason Rudolph in Year 1.
"I am," he said of taking Howard under his wing. "Will's a good kid. We've got to talk a little bit. I thought he did really well today. He seems pretty bright. Not too big for him."
"But, yeah, I mean I'm going to be with him every single day in every single meeting. Found my seat next to him today in the offensive meeting, whether or not that sticks, right next to Will Howard. So, I'm going to help him out as much as I can," Rodgers added.
It goes without saying how invaluable Rodgers' help will be for Howard. After all, it isn't every day a young quarterback gets to learn from a Super Bowl-winning player and all-time great.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love, who sat behind Rodgers for multiple years, has expressed how much simply watching Rodgers helped him develop.
But the rookie is actually managing to repay the favor by helping Rodgers get acclimated to his new team, something that is surreal for Howard.
"We found ourselves sitting next to each other in the unit meeting, it was pretty cool, it was Day 1, and obviously there's some new things that we threw in, and he's asking me, 'Hey, what's this again?' And I'm telling him, and I'm like, 'What is going on right now? This is crazy, I'm telling Aaron Rodgers,'" Howard explained, per Steelers Live.
Howard is considered a project as he enters the NFL, and the entire league thought the same after he didn't come off the board until the sixth round. But that also makes the Steelers a perfect landing spot for him.
With Rodgers and Rudolph in front of him, Howard can develop for a year without any pressure, and then the Steelers can assess where he stands in 2026 and decide whether or not they need to draft another quarterback.
We liked Howard's chances of sticking in the NFL before he was drafted, but his chances got even better once Rodgers arrived in Pittsburgh.
