Notre Dame and North Carolina have both been in the headlines this season, but not always for the best reasons.

That's especially true for the Fighting Irish in Year 1 of the Marcus Freeman era. They opened the season with an expected — but no less disappointing — loss to then-No. 2 Ohio State, but that was followed by an inconceivable loss to Marshall in Week 2. Notre Dame got on the board with a controversial win in Week 3 against Cal (whom it needed to beat three times on the Golden Bears' final drive).

North Carolina, meanwhile, nearly lost to Appalachian State in Week 2 as it gave up 40 fourth-quarter points to the Mountaineers. App State, for what it's worth, went on to win at Texas A&M and then beat Troy with a Hail Mary.

This game, then, features two teams that have flirted with disaster this year.

North Carolina appears to have the advantage at quarterback: Drake Maye has completed 72 of 97 passes (74.2 percent) for 930 yards and 11 touchdowns to one interception this year. Notre Dame is moving ahead with Drew Pyne, who is filling in for the injured Tyler Buchner.

Here's everything you need to know to watch the pseudo-ACC meeting between the Fighting Irish and Tar Heels.
