As Northwestern football looks to bounce back from a disappointing 4-8 season in 2024, they’ll need some big-time plays from some big-time players.
Lucky for head coach David Braun, the Wildcats have a talented pass rusher in Anto Saka who can contribute those types of moments.
At 6-foot-4 and almost 260 pounds, Saka is a force of nature on the defensive line. So much so that he landed on Bruce Feldman’s annual “Freaks List” which recognizes some of the premier talents in college football.
Feldman referred to Saka as “one of the best kept secrets in the Big Ten and anticipates an expanded role for him.
“He’s added about 15 pounds since last season, and is excited to see the difference it makes for him on the field, now that he carries almost 260 pounds on his 6-4 frame,” Feldman wrote. “Expect him to be more of an every-down player for the Wildcats.”
Saka, a former high school track star, said he feels more powerful and explosive ahead of the 2025 season. Expect a drastic improvement from the 3.5 sacks he registered in 2024 as a result.
Saka becomes the most recent Wildcat to make Feldman’s list, with the last Northwestern player to make it being Adetomiwa Adeabwore of the Indianapolis Colts.
