There are plenty of good quarterbacks who are back with their teams in 2025, giving those teams much-needed continuity and familiarity. It's a reason some of the schools are poised for success, because having that established, known QB under center is a benefit that can't be understated.
But those QBs won't define the college football season in 2025. Rather, Bleacher Report's David Kenyon believes it'll be the newcomers, whether through the portal or just by virtue of finally getting a starting nod, who will impact the success of everyone more.
"Sure, there are fair questions to ask about Drew Allar, Cade Klubnik, Garrett Nussmeier and veterans of their caliber," he began. "We essentially know what to expect from them, though."
Kenyon claims that the "real curiosity" is all about those who transferred, namely Miami's Carson Beck or Oklahoma's John Mateer. He also shouted out players finally getting the reins for a full season, including Florida QB DJ Lagway and Texas signal-caller Arch Manning.
"Alabama's Ty Simpson, Notre Dame's CJ Carr, Ohio State's Julian Sayin and Oregon's Dante Moore are merely four other examples of a deep conversation," Kenyon added. "In these situations, the talent is clear. However, these QBs are tasked with either commanding a new roster and system or embracing the pressure of being the guy from Day 1."
Kenyon said that some of these new QBs will thrive, while others will falter. And with the amount of them on big, important teams in 2025, that alone will define how things go for plenty of schools and conferences in college football.
