It seems as if the Michigan Wolverines are veering toward deciding who their starting quarterback might be.

According to On3's Chris Balas, a new update has since emerged regarding Fresno State transfer quarterback Mikey Keene, who’s beginning his career in Ann Arbor this fall.

"I think Mikey Keene is starting to heal up, I talked to Chip Lindsey today, the offensive coordinator, and he said, he's back healthy, he's throwing a little bit, and he had an upper body injury that really limited him,” Balas said.

Balas added that while the Wolverines like what Underwood has shown so far, he isn’t ruling out Keene’s abilities.

“I suppose he could come out of nowhere and all of a sudden pick up the offense, having worked with Chip Lindsey before, and just wowing everybody to the point where, 'Okay, he's the guy.'”

Michigan finished 8-5 this past season, including an upset over Ohio State. Expectations appear to be much higher this fall, with notable pieces already acquired via the transfer portal, including running back Justice Haynes, among others.

Coach Sherrone Moore spoke positively about Keene's development thus far and expects strides moving forward.

"(We) handled it and he’s doing well now,” Moore told MLive during spring practice. “He’s throwing, he’s in a good place, and (we) felt like pushing it to end the spring that way."

Moore said overall, Keene seems destined to make a full recovery.

“We feel like he’s in a good place," Moore said.

Whether Keene sees the field is unclear, but what is clear is he is the furthest thing from ousted in the Wolverines’ quarterback room.
