There's no denying that Miami Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal is a relentless recruiter.
And he showed that again recently.
Last week, Cristobal connected with class of 2031 athlete Drayton Hester on FaceTime and offered him a scholarship.
The name "Hester" should sound familiar to Miami fans, as Drayton is the soon-to-be 7th grade son of Miami legend Devin Hester.
“Number one, congratulations on busting your butt and doing all the things that you’ve been doing at such a young age,” Cristobal said in the video. “I know you guys have got a big game coming up, but I wanted to call you myself and let you know - face-to-face, man-to- man - that we’re offering you a scholarship to Miami and we would love you to be a Miami Hurricane one day, okay? You are that guy. I’m going to recruit you like an absolute madman and I want you to lead the class when it’s your time. Is that fair?”
Hester was an electric return man for Miami in 2004 and 2005, averaging 17.2 yards per punt return with three touchdowns as a sophomore.
He went on to become of the NFL's most electric return men ever.
So, it's not surprising that his athleticism would carry over in the family line, and that his son Drayton is a coveted athlete in his own right.
It will be fascinating to see how his high school... or even his middle school career... unfolds.
