With Will Levis set to miss the entire 2025 season, the starting quarterback job for the Tennessee Titans appears to be all Cam Ward’s.
The No. 1 overall pick has impressed early in camp and is already making many within the Titans organization feel confident about their decision. But as training camp continues, rough days are bound to happen for the former Miami Hurricanes standout.
According to ESPN’s Turron Davenport, Tuesday marked Ward’s worst outing of camp so far.
“The defense had the better showing on the first day of pads. It forced three interceptions by Cameron Ward,” Davenport wrote. “One came on an RPO after the pass ricocheted off defensive lineman T’Vondre Sweat’s helmet and ended up in the hands of cornerback Gabe Jeudy-Lally.”
Two of Ward’s interceptions reportedly came during the final team period.

While it’s not a reason for Titans fans or Ward supporters to panic, it does show that even with all his upside, there will be growing pains. Tuesday also marked his first full-pads practice in the NFL, offering a real glimpse of pro-level speed and intensity.
Ward finished 5-of-9 passing during 7-on-7 drills and 6-of-17 in 11-on-11 team periods.
“Overall, Ward had a tough day,” Davenport added. “He was late on deep passes even during routes on air. Several deep passes came up short, causing the receivers to wait for the ball. Ward stressed the importance of timing being key to his transition to the NFL. Tuesday was a case of the timing not being where it should be.”
Despite Ward being the presumed starter, it’s not a lock just yet—especially if days like Tuesday become a trend. Titans head coach Brian Callahan could decide to lean on five-year veteran Brandon Allen to begin the season if the rookie isn't ready by Week 1.
