Amid growing speculation that LSU Tigers star quarterback Garrett Nussmeier suffered a significant knee injury Wednesday, LSU provided some clarity.

The Athletic national college football reporter Bruce Feldman reached out to a source within the program who quickly squashed the social media smoke.

“Yeah, he’s fine," the source told Feldman. "These people are unreal.”

Nussmeier was helped off the field Wednesday, but it appears he avoided any major issue.

This week, LSU came in at No. 9 in the initial AFCA Coaches Poll, and much of that hype hinges on Nussmeier as an elite quarterback.

Last season, the potential future NFL first-round draft pick threw for 4,052 yards with 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

An even bigger senior campaign could very well be on the horizon.

But staying healthy with be crucial.

Despite some wild social media speculation Wednesday, it appears Nussmeier remains fully healthy and right on track.
