If Bill Belichick's relationship with his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson was not attracting enough attention since they started dating, it is now.
And it's not in a good way.
Hudson's curt "We’re not talking about this" statement during Belichick's viral interview with CBS Sports. Although Belichick tried some damage control, it hardly did any repair.
Analysts are beating the couple over the controversy, mainly Hudson, for introducing drama into Belichick's life.
SEC mouthpiece Paul Finebaum reduced their relationship to Belichick "trying to get her jobs," one that she isn't qualified for.
"The bottom line, it’s pretty simple to understand," Finebaum said, per On3. "Belichick’s trying to help her, trying to get her jobs, and she doesn’t seem to be qualified to do anything but get in the way."
And it's not just analysts who are condemning the whole situation. Yahoo Sports senior writer Nick Bromberg stated how Hudson's interruption turned the whole situation "cringeworthy".
"It was a cringeworthy moment even for those who aren't versed in public relations, and one that won't be forgotten anytime soon," Bromberg wrote.
"It was an awkward moment after a basic inquiry, especially since Belichick is a master at deflecting questions himself. They both should have seen the question coming. An innocuous answer would have been a non-story," he further suggested.
The timing of his controversy with Hudson couldn't have come at a worse moment, as Belichick's job at UNC football is getting involved to the extent that he could potentially be fired.
Belichick would have hardly imagined the five-word statement from his girlfriend to prove this catastrophic.
