Entering the 2025 college football season, Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning is expected to be one of the top quarterbacks in the country. Some have already dubbed him as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft should he choose to enter his name into it.
While the hype is huge surrounding Manning, there are some questions. He has yet to be a starting college football quarterback. Can he live up to the hype?
Also, is he truly the best quarterback in the nation for the 2025 season? Joel Klatt took a look at that question.
Klatt recently unveiled his top-10 quarterbacks entering the 2025 college football campaign. He did not have Manning placed at No. 1. Instead, he believes that Clemson Tigers quarterback Cade Klubnik deserves that ranking.
As for Manning, he has the Texas signal caller ranked No. 2.
During the 2024 season with the Longhorns, Manning did receive a decent chunk of playing time. He played well when he was on the field, increasing the hype for the upcoming season.
Manning completed 67.8 percent of his pass attempts for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also recorded 108 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Those numbers were impressive for the amount of playing time he actually received.
Texas is expected to be one of the top national championship contenders in the nation. If Manning can play like the No. 2 quarterback in the nation, he'll help them reach those expectations.
Only time will tell, but all signs are pointing up for Manning and the Longhorns. It will be interesting to see how he handles all the pressure and hype in 2025.
