Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels has been one of the best quarterbacks in the nation over the last two seasons — when he’s healthy.

Daniels even had his name in the Heisman Trophy race in 2022 before an injury forced him to miss four games but he still made All-Big 12. Kansas was off to a 3-0 start in 2023 before a back injury forced Daniels out for the remainder of the season.

He’s back healthy in 2024 and Heisman Trophy oddsmakers have him as a longshot to win the trophy but one of the top players in the Big 12 in terms of Heisman favorites — Bet365 and BetMGM have him at +4000 odds while FanDuel and ESPNBet have the Lawndale, California, native at +3000 odds.

Kansas has only had one Heisman finalist in program history when quarterback David Jaynes finished fourth in Heisman voting in 1973 — Penn State running back John Cappelletti was the Heisman winner that year.

Kansas opens the season on Aug. 29 against Lindenwood, an FCS school.
