It's not easy to be a freshman quarterback at a big-time college football program. There's a lot of information thrown at you very quickly.
That's the adjustment that Georgia Bulldogs frosh Ryan Montgomery is making this summer.
Earlier this week, Georgia coach Kirby Smart spoke about what he's seen so far from Montgomery:
"Mentally, he gets it. He's very into the mental side of it. He throws a very catchable ball, very accurate passer. A little overwhelmed at times, and probably thinking too much. We give the quarterback a lot, and we give a freshman quarterback a lot, because it's a lot greater than what they're used to. He's handled that volume well, and he does a good job processing information and taking coaching to the field, which is a good sign for a quarterback."

Montgomery will have time to develop in a talented Georgia QB room that's expected to be helmed this fall by Gunner Stockton.
He arrived in Athens by way of Findlay High School in northwest Ohio.
Montgomery had a bit of a bummer senior season, sustaining a season-ending injury in Findlay's first game last fall.
Despite that, he was regarded by pretty much every recruiting service as a top-15 QB in the country.

Montgomery's brother, Luke, is an offensive lineman at Ohio State.
It was clear how excited Montgomery was to commit to Georgia when he pulled out all the stops at his announcement.
To help reveal his destination, Montgomery walked into the gym with a bulldog on a leash.
That'll be quite the starting point to Montgomery's Georgia journey if it can continue to blossom.
So far, based on Smart's comments, so good.
