Chop Robinson came into training camp riding high after a strong rookie season.
He looked ready to take the next step and make a real impact for the Dolphins. But that momentum hit a roadblock Wednesday morning when he was carted off the field during a joint practice with the Lions after getting hurt on a scramble.
It’s too soon to know how bad the injury is, but seeing a player leave on a cart is constantly worrying. Robinson was expected to start alongside Bradley Chubb this year, giving Miami one of the league’s nastiest pass-rushing duos. His absence will be felt.
Robinson, the Dolphins’ first-round pick from Penn State last year, showed flashes as a rookie with 26 tackles and six sacks. He mainly rotated in back then, but now he’s stepping into a starting role and could shake things up every game.
Robinson grew up in Maryland and made a name for himself at Quince Orchard High, earning five-star status and a No. 22 national ranking. He was also the state’s top edge rusher, according to 247Sports.
At Penn State, he became one of the nation’s top pass rushers, recording 41 tackles, 9.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles. Injuries have slowed him a bit, but he’s tough and doesn’t quit.

If he stays healthy, Dolphins fans have plenty to look forward to as he’s the kind of player who can turn a game around. For now, the most challenging part is waiting on updates about his injury.
