Rondale Moore can’t catch a break.

The wide receiver suffered a season-ending right knee injury last year with the Atlanta Falcons and was attempting a comeback with the Minnesota Vikings this season, but it ended before it could truly begin.

Moore suffered another season-ending injury to his left knee Saturday in the Vikings’ preseason game against the Houston Texans, the team confirmed Tuesday.

“Moore had to be carted off the field, and he was visibly distraught as he wrapped a towel over his face on his way off the field,” Steven Taranto wrote for CBS Sports. The Vikings beat the Texans 20-10.

At 5-foot-7, Moore was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with the Cardinals and caught 135 passes for 1,201 yards and three touchdowns in 39 career games. Moore was traded to the Atlanta Falcons following the 2023 season but his first knee injury kept him from seeing any playing time last year.

The wide receiver spent three seasons playing for Purdue under former head coach Jeff Brohm.

As a true freshman in 2018, Moore broke the school record for most all-purpose yards in both a game (313) and a season (2,215). His sophomore season, the wide receiver recorded 29 receptions for 387 yards and two touchdowns. In 2020 a hamstring injury sidelined him for the first three games of the season and continued to cause issues — Moore finished the year missing the final eight games with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain.

Moore’s injury occurred in the second quarter of Saturday’s preseason game. He was tackled during a punt return and suffered “what was described by coach Kevin O'Connell as a ‘pretty significant’ knee injury,” per Taranto.

The Vikings have yet to offer an update on Moore’s status, but the injury is confirmed to be season-ending.
