It’s not easy to lead a conference in career receptions. It’s even harder to hold the all-time record.

That’s exactly what Justin Hall did at Ball State, where he racked up 318 catches for 3,385 yards and 18 touchdowns over five seasons where he cemented himself as one of the most productive wide receivers in MAC history.

Yet, despite the track record, Hall is still waiting for his real shot in the NFL.

Hall wasn’t just a stat compiler. The 5-9 receiver played with toughness, versatility, and consistency in every phase lining up in the slot, returning kicks, even taking handoffs as a gadget player. He was a three-time 1st team All-MAC selection and helped lead Ball State win a conference title in 2020.

Though he went undrafted in 2022, Hall has stayed ready. He’s had brief stints with the Raiders and the Vikings in the preseason then has spent some time in UFL, and his tape still shows a player with reliable hands, low-center burst, and special teams potential.

In 2024 he was top 3 in both receptions and yards in 2024.  In the following season he became the newest single season receptions holder with 62. These traits that should appeal to NFL teams looking for depth.

3 teams that could use Justin Hall in 2025

1. New Orleans Saints
The Saints have some uncertainty behind Chris Olave, especially with Rashid Shaheed dealing with injuries. Hall could compete in the slot and contribute as a returner.

2. New England Patriots
New England is rebuilding its offense with young talent, and they’ve never shied away from giving opportunities to under-the-radar receivers. Hall’s profile fits what they’ve valued in the past with guys like Wes Welker and Julian Edelman.

3. Indianapolis Colts
With an offense that values quick-game options and short-area quickness, Hall could be a sneaky addition and it doesn’t hurt that Ball State is just up the road.

Justin Hall isn’t a big-name prospect. He doesn’t have the prototypical build or blazing 40 times. But he’s a football guy and the kind of guy who’s produced at every level and just needs a shot.

In a league always searching for value, Hall might just be the best available wideout no one’s talking about.
