DJ Lagway is immensely talented.
But if you look at the Florida Gators' rising star quarterback through a certain lens, you can arrive at an Arch Manning-like conundrum.
Lagway's recruiting pedigree and talent have raised the hype even higher for him than his play so far has warranted. That's not to say he can't reach those heights, but there's a bit of a disconnect.
ESPN's Bill Connelly explained this in a new article this week:
"Like Arch Manning, we're projecting success onto DJ Lagway. The No. 8 prospect in the 2024 class went 6-1 as a starter and averaged an explosive 16.7 yards per completion. But he also threw nine interceptions with subpar efficiency, and he ranked 69th in Total QBR. That he's currently No. 6 in the Heisman odds, then, feels aggressive. Lagway has great size, a huge arm and solid mobility, but that's a lot of hype."

It's easy to watch Lagway and dream on a massive future.
The Gators certainly want that. They want a return to their glory days.
The hype train has left the station, so now all that's left for Lagway to do is jump aboard.
