There's a persistent notion that Cam Ward hasn't gotten the media attention that he deserves. If that's the case, Jaxson Dart should look into trying to get on billboards around the country to remind the masses he was the second quarterback off the board in this year's draft.
Part of the reason stems from his position in the New York Giants signal-caller room, as head coach Brian Daboll has already announced Russell Wilson as the team's starter entering the season.
Given how last season ended for Wilson, that place atop the depth chart could be temporary at best, especially in a loaded division with a more enticing option waiting in the wings.
And that passing of the torch could come earlier than expected, as in a recent interview with NFL Network, the Ole Miss product insinuated he's already bursting through the rookie wall.
"I just feel like the game slowed down for me, with the more time and reps I’ve gotten in this offense," Dart said. “Our coaches prepare us at the highest level each and every day. Coming into it, I feel well prepared, and the more reps you get, the more comfortable you get; you're able to play a lot faster."
Daboll is on the clock in the Big Apple. If Wilson falls short of being an efficient game manager, a change under center should be expected.
It's still unclear how Dart can succeed in a pro-style attack, but he has the tools and unwavering confidence in himself to exceed any pre-draft expectations.
