Shilo and Shedeur Sanders are both fighting for roster spots in the NFL—one with the Browns and the other with the Buccaneers. Shedeur has been spending his summer in Cleveland doing off-the-field community service, taking part in initiatives that few, if any, rookies have taken on this early in their careers.

“I’ll be honest with you, I’ve never seen what Shedeur Sanders is doing this early on in a player’s career,” Cecil Shorts said on Cleveland’s 92.3 The Fan. “I’ve never seen that before, I’ve never seen a rookie come into the league and before he even played a snap is already in the Garden Valley Projects … All the things he’s doing (in the community). It’s a special thing he’s doing, that’s not normal.”

Now, his brother Shilo is beginning to follow in his footsteps. In a YouTube video posted earlier this week, Shilo worked a shift as a KFC employee. What he didn’t expect was to meet a fellow employee named Connie Knight—the same name as his grandmother. Upon learning this, Shilo made a generous gesture: he paid for her day off, echoing words his father, Deion Sanders, has said many times before.

“My dad always says he doesn’t want his mom (Connie Knight) to work anymore, so today you are not going to work anymore; I got you,” Sanders said.

This heartfelt moment was inspired by Deion Sanders’ deep love and respect for his mother. In a video shared in early July, Deion expressed just how much she means to him.

“Ain’t nothing changed but our addresses,” Sanders said. “You are a role model of consistency. Thank you mom, for just being you. Ain’t no mama like you. I love you, mom.”

Shilo’s gesture was a pure act of kindness. He had no idea going into the day that he would meet someone with the same name as his grandmother—but his reaction turned an ordinary work shift into an unforgettable moment for both him and the employee.
