LSU and Clemson both play in "Death Valley," but not the same one. They're both hostile college campuses in the southeastern United States, but they differ greatly. Which one is the real one? Well, that depends firmly on who you ask.
And if you ask Eric MacLain, former Clemson football captain, which one it is, he'll give you the straightest answer there is. "We like to operate with facts," he said. "The history books for LSU are a decade behind Death Valley [in] Clemson, South Carolina. I know people love to change history or rewrite history but it is what it is. The real one is in Clemson, South Carolina."
Those two teams will face off in one of the premier matchups this year, though it won't determine which team can rightfully claim the Death Valley name.
They each have one of the sport's top veteran QBs in Cade Klubnik and Garrett Nussmeier, two potential first-round picks in the 2026 NFL draft, and they're both likely to compete for the College Football Playoff, so winning will have more to do with that than a silly dispute.
