Ohio State-Texas is 75 days away from kicking off the college football Week 1 slate. Although the Buckeyes still have yet to decide who will start at quarterback this fall, "Always College Football" host Greg McElroy may have just dropped a major hint when previewing the Cotton Bowl rematch.

“It’s going to be an incredible game," McElroy said. “It’s going to be an incredible game. Two new quarterbacks that are very, very highly anticipated debut. Julian Sayin more than likely for Ohio State and we already know it’s Arch Manning for the Texas Longhorns. Both teams have hopes of winning a national championship."

McElroy says the winner will be in the driver's seat to make the College Football Playoff, marking a resume win off the list.

"And a big win in Week 1 against one of the best teams in the sport should propel them and give them great momentum to take on the rest of their regular season opponents. That is, by far, the best game in the nonconference here in the 2025 season.”

Both teams met in January, with the Buckeyes overcoming the Longhorns to advance to the national title game. Ohio State, of course, wound up as the sport's dominant team by season's end, beating Notre Dame in the title game.

With a good chunk of the summer offseason still to come, the hype for the game is only continuing to grow by the day. Whether it delivers is another story altogether.
