Shedeur Sanders’ honeymoon in Cleveland could be short-lived. Would Drew Allar take his place?
One Cleveland Browns insider believes that while the team took two quarterbacks (Sanders and Dillon Gabriel) in the 2025 NFL Draft, there is a pretty good chance they will take one in 2026 as well.
“The 2026 draft will have multiple QBs graded much higher than Gabriel and Sanders,” ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi wrote. “With two first-round picks at their disposal, the Browns will have the means to select one of them. I just can’t see the Browns allowing the 2026 QB draft pass them by – no matter what Gabriel and Sanders are able to accomplish this season. It doesn’t mean Gabriel and Sanders will be discarded. They’ll be back no matter what.”
With what is projected to be a loaded 2026 QB class, it would make sense for the Browns to take a swing on a top-level talent. Allar could be one of the names to watch.
According to Vegas Insider, Allar currently has the second-best odds to go No. 1 overall in the 2026 draft. With Cleveland expected by many to be back near the top of the draft with major holes in their roster, there could be significant interest from both sides. Allar also grew up about 30 miles outside of Cleveland in nearby Medina, so there is local appeal for the Browns.
Many Penn State fans are hoping Allar will take a leap and finally be the one to lead them to the Promised Land of the CFP National Championship, and should he do so, he could easily become an early pick to a team like the Browns.
