Colorado head coach Deion Sanders met with reporters Monday afternoon alongside his medical team to share his previous bladder cancer diagnosis, with his doctors explaining that Sanders is now "cured from the cancer" following surgery.
Coming into Monday, it was only known that the star coach had been dealing with an undisclosed medical issue for months. Sanders' involvement in spring and summer camps with the Buffaloes was limited due to his health, and in a video from July 20 posted by his son, Deion Sanders Jr., the head coach said, "You know I’m still going through something" and "I ain’t all the way recovered.”
Sanders then took the podium in Boulder to clear any speculation and provide details of his bladder cancer diagnosis. He and his doctors said that following a routine CT scan for his vascular patterns, a bladder tumor was found, and he later underwent bladder removal surgery with the creation of a new bladder.

"The results from the surgery are that he is cured from the cancer," Sanders' doctor said. Coach Prime then proceeded to tell the media with a smile that "you can clap, it's okay."
