The Colorado Buffaloes football program has quickly grown accustomed to making big splashes on the recruiting trail under coach Deion Sanders.

So, it has been somewhat surprising to see Colorado with just six pledges sitting at No. 98 nationally overall in the recruiting class rankings.

Of course, that could change in a hurry if the Buffaloes begin stacking commitments and Sanders can pull off his annual surprise - or two.

After landing Edison (Florida) three-star offensive tackle Xavier Payne, a former Florida State Seminoles pledge, the hot streak may have begun.

On Thursday, Colorado has a chance to keep it rolling, as Carthage (Texas) three-star linebacker Carson Crawford is set to announce his college commitment.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound 'backer took official visits to Texas State, UNLV and Colorado - with Boulder being the last stop.

At the time, Crawford had been committed to Texas State, but reopened his recruitment immediately upon returning from Boulder.

That's likely good news for Sanders' program.

Last fall for Texas 4A state champion Carthage, Crawford racked up 91 tackles, 22 tackles-for-loss, nine sacks and four forced fumbles.

He also showed off his intelligence and athleticism, playing seven different positions in the state title game alone.

Expect Colorado to add Crawford into the fold Thursday, and for the Buffaloes to begin climbing up the rankings.
