Colorado Buffaloes football legend Shedeur Sanders’ next potential move if the Cleveland Browns cut him before the 2025 season and the NFL doesn’t work out has been revealed.
On Wednesday, the CFL released its negotiation list, and Sanders’ name appeared alongside the Toronto Argonauts.
“We are focused on giving fans and media more opportunities to connect with our product in entertaining and meaningful ways,” Johnston, who started in his role in the spring, said in a statement, per Sportsnet Canada. “By making the full negotiation lists public, fans now have visibility into who their favourite team’s next star could be, sparking discussion and debate, and providing insight into how CFL rosters are built.”
This does not mean Sanders is actively negotiating with the Argonauts. But it means Toronto is at least keeping Sanders on their radar and has exclusive rights to sign him. It's unclear if Deion Sanders would let his son play up north.
This was the first time the CFL released its negotiations list to the public.
Bad timing for Sanders. Perfect Timing for the CFL, considering the most popular rookie in NFL history was on it.
The “Grown QB” did it to himself, though.
Sanders’ disastrous pre-draft meetings with interested teams may have sealed his fate before ever setting foot in Berea. That’s not to even get into the fact he’s solidly fourth on the depth chart at quarterback.
With all the hype Coach Prime and Shedeur built for himself throughout the draft process, he couldn’t deliver in any meaningful way when push came to shove at the pro level.
It may be Canada’s gain if Sanders can’t find his footing in Cleveland over the next few weeks.
