The number two has been worn by some of the most iconic college football players of all time. It's a number that dynamic players at a variety of positions, including quarterback, wide receiver, and more, have and will continue to wear. In general, it's a pretty good number to get across sports, as people like Derek Jeter, Patrick Surtain, DeAndre Ayton, Lonzo Ball, Cade Cunningham, Jeff Kent, and so many others have worn it.

In college football, it's been worn by Charles Woodson, Cam Newton, Johnny Manziel, and Deion Sanders, some of the greatest college players ever. According to FOX Sports, the greatest player among them is Woodson, not Newton. Both are Heisman winners, but what Newton did was arguably the most impressive feat any college player has ever pulled off, dragging a team with essentially no other NFL-bound talent to an undefeated season in the SEC and a national title.

But in the end, FOX Sports argued, "Selecting the greatest college player to wear No. 2 was no easy task. While Cam Newton (Auburn), Deion Sanders (Florida State) and Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M) all have legitimate cases, in the end, Woodson was simply too dominant not to hold the title of the best college player to don No. 2."

It's not that Woodson is undeserving whatsoever. He was the first defensive player to win the Heisman and he won the Thorpe Award, the Bednarik Award, and the Walter Camp Award as well. Newton was just a historically good player who lifted a team that otherwise would've gone nowhere to all-time status.
