The Cleveland Browns have an opportunity to remake their bed after the Deshaun Watson era ended worse than Johnny Depp's marriage to Amber Heard. Cleveland could finally stop being the laughing stock of the NFL if they would just let Shedeur Sanders keep rising like he has been in practice.
Several sources have said that Shedeur shined in minicamp, including LeSean McCoy's.
"I got my sources...and they told me... that he looks like the best player out of the whole camp, [and he's a] fifth-rounder," McCoy said on FS1’s The Facility on Monday. "If you look at Shedeur Sanders, his mindset ain't to be in no backup role with [the Browns]. He's in there to start.
“Why wouldn’t the Browns start Shedeur? What would they have to lose? They can finally move on from Deshaun Watson and they could have a huge name, a jersey seller, and a real face of the franchise since Baker and Manziel. Are they afraid of a Johnny Manziel 2.0? They could be, but Johnny couldn’t keep the bottle out of his hand. Shedeur had Deion for a father who would never allow something like that to ever happen to his any of his sons. So that shouldn’t be a worry to the Browns.”
He is starting on a path that can prove all the anonymous coaches wrong about him and prove all the people like Kyle Brandt right, who had this to get off his chest on his morning show Good Morning Football.
“Shut up, anonymous coach. I am so triggered by this," Brandt said. "Shut up. This is not only anonymous, I think it's tasteless. I think the timing is ridiculous. 'The worst formal interview I've ever…' Is it really? Is it? Or are you just going for a headline?"
With all the driving support from fans and analysts alike, wouldn't you believe the Browns would get out of their own way and let Shedeur Sanders become the star quarterback he was born to be? Especially if he is already proving he is better than what the Browns are rostering now.
Cleveland is in a special situation, their division is so weak besides Lamar Jackson that if Sanders does start and plays well, they could easily be the second-best team in the AFC North. They have the coaching, they have the team, and they have the quarterback if they just use him.
