There are a number of iconic stadiums in the Big Ten. As one of the best college football conferences right now, there are some teams that make it hard to visit their stadium on account of how good they are. Either way, it's not a conference lacking distinct venues.
Beaver Stadium, Autzen Stadium, Michigan Stadium, Memorial Stadium, and Spartan Stadium all exist in this conference. However, according to USA Today's Paul Myerberg, they all pale in comparison to Ohio Stadium, a.k.a. the Horsehoe. That shouldn't be a surprise given Ohio State's dominance and how devoted their fans are.
"Trips to the Horseshoe are basically a guaranteed loss for teams in and out of the Big Ten, unless you’re Michigan. (The Wolverines have taken two in a row at home in the series.) Since the stadium opened in 1922, Ohio State has been dominant at home, including a remarkable 55-3 record (94.9%) since 2016. The Buckeyes have turned the ‘Shoe into maybe the most hostile locale in the sport," Myerberg said in ranking the stadium the best in its conference.
The only team that somehow seems impervious to the Horseshoe's atmosphere is Michigan, which is perhaps the worst possible team to have that ability. Nevertheless, the stadium isn't just iconic within the Big Ten. It's easily one of the best and most difficult places to visit in all of college football, regardless of conference. That's not changing any time soon, either, with OSU still as dominant as ever.
