Whenever Jeremiah Smith's Ohio State career is over, be it when the 2027 NFL draft rolls around or when he graduates (or even if he somehow decides to transfer), he will absolutely be one of the best wide receivers to ever play for the Buckeyes. He might be the best, at least on a per-game basis so far.
And while LSU now has the crown, historically, OSU has really been a dominant wide receiver school. They were wide receiver university before LSU was. So fittingly, Smith selected his Mt. Rushmore of OSU wideouts, excluding himself, because there's a case to be made that he should be up there.
Smith picked a handful of really good names: Cris Carter, Marvin Harrison Jr., Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Ted Ginn Jr. Those are all among the best college wide receivers in history, and there are even a few snubs from this list.
Picking only four didn't leave room for players like Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel, Emeka Egbuka, Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, Santonio Holmes, Brian Robiskie, Michael Thomas, K.J. Hill, and Parris Campbell. It's incredibly hard to narrow it down to four, which Smith had to do, but it left out some really deserving names.
All this does is illustrate the wealth of wide receivers Ohio State has always had, with Smith, Carnell Tate, and some others from this season perhaps poised to join the pantheon.
