A 2016 season-opening matchup in Australia between Baylor and Cal, reportedly dead earlier this month, still bears watching, Baylor representatives at Big 12 Media Days said Tuesday (via College Football Talk).

Bears coach Art Briles and athletic director Ian McCaw say that although there are some hurdles to a mid-August game in Sydney, a game Down Under remains in the works.

The waiver mentioned in the latter tweet would be required because the proposed game would be played one week before the NCAA's regular start of games, typically the Thursday before Labor Day.

The Bears and Golden Bears have met three times, most recently in 2002.  That marked the first meeting between the programs since the mid-1950s.
