It's going to be the Arch Manning show in Texas this year. Whether that's going to translate to a title-winning, historic season like some believe or a mediocre year that showcases Manning as a bust like others might remains to be seen, but it will be his team this year.
He can't do it alone, though. He can't catch his own passes, specifically. He can provide some running help himself, and his play in the pocket could mitigate poor protection, but he can't catch the ball. Manning will need a running mate to emerge, and CBS Sports analyst Brad Crawford thinks it will be Ryan Wingo.
"Arch Manning needs a budding star he can trust downfield, and former five-star receiver Ryan Wingo is poised to fill that role in a big way this season," he said.
The wideout averaged 16.2 yards per reception as a freshman in 2024. Unfortunately, as the season went on, the Longhorns relied more on top-end veterans like Matthew Golden, Isaiah Bond, and Gunnar Helm. They're all gone to the NFL with Quinn Ewers, so Wingo is now the next man up.
"Expect fireworks from this high-powered offense, with Wingo projected to approach 1,300 receiving yards and reach double-digit touchdowns," Crawford concluded. With Manning under center, there's a good chance there will be plenty of receiving yards to go around, and Wingo stands to gain most of them.
