An over/under line in sports betting is designed to be as difficult as possible. It's supposed to essentially sit right near their actual win total so that bettors have a hard time determining if they'll get more or less than that. Sometimes, though, the mark is too low or too high to fool anyone.
That appears to be the case with the LSU Tigers this year. They have an 8.5 win line, for which the under would mean the Tigers would regress by a game in 2025. That, according to CBS Sports' Jimmie Kaylor, is not going to happen, so this is a really good line to take the over on.
"The Tigers return a highly productive player at the most important position on the field in redshirt junior Garrett Nussmeier," he said. "LSU also hit the transfer portal hard, adding several players that should make an immediate impact in Baton Rouge. When I broke down the Tigers' schedule I came up with nine confident wins, and ultimately believe they'll have a double-digit win total this fall."
The odds are good for LSU to have a pretty good season, which for them almost undoubtedly means nine wins since that's what they got with a worse team last season. Sure, the SEC might be more difficult in 2025, but the Tigers are better, and that line is fairly low in Kaylor's estimation. This is a pretty solid pick in the analyst's eyes.
