No. 1 Alabama, behind backup quarterback Jalen Hurts, punched its ticket to the College Football Playoff on Saturday with a come-from-behind 35-28 victory over No. 5 Georgia in the SEC championship game.

Hurts came on for an injured Tua Tagovailoa in the second half with the Crimson Tide (13-0) trailing 28-21. He then led Alabama on two scoring drives, capping the last one with a go-ahead 15-yard rushing touchdown with 1:04 remaining in regulation.

Tagovailoa went 10 for 25 with 164 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions before coming out of the game with an apparent ankle injury. Hurts was 7 for 9 for 82 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed five times for 28 yards.

Jake Fromm threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns on 25-for-39 passing for Georgia (11-2), which was looking to avenge its overtime loss to Alabama in last season's College Football Playoff national championship game.

7:46 p.m.:  The game ends on a Jake Fromm failed Hail Mary attempt. Alabama wins. 

7:41 p.m.:  Georgia converts on fourth-and-two to keep them alive. Jake Fromm completes a 4 yard pass to Terry Godwin.

7:34 p.m.: Touchdown, Alabama. Hurts runs it in from the 15-yard line and the Tide have their first lead of the game!  Alabama 35, Georgia 28

7:33 p.m.:  Another third down conversion for Alabama. Hurts connects with Irv Smith, who fumbles but recovers.

7:30 p.m.:  It's a fake! Georgia tries the fake punt on a direct snap to backup quarterback Justin Fields but he is stopped well short of the first down marker. Alabama takes over. 

7:30 p.m.:  Fromm's pass on third-and-11 is incomplete.

7:28 p.m.:  Jake Fromm connects with DeAndre Swfit for a 26-yard completion to move the Bulldogs into Alabama territory. 

7:19 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, Alabama.  Hurts finds Jerry Jeudy, who makes a diving catch in the end zone and this game is tied up.  Georgia 28, Alabama 28. 

7:16 p.m.:  Josh Jacobs takes a direct snap on third-and-1 and converts a huge first down to set up goal to go.

7:15 p.m.:  Hurts heaves up a prayer that is caught for 23 yards and then a 9-yard run by Damien Harris moves Alabama into the red zone.

7:12 p.m.: Hurts shows no signs of rust and completes his first pass attempt of the game for 13 yards.

7:10 p.m.: Quarterback Jalen Hurts comes in for an injured Tua Tagovailoa.

7:09 p.m.: Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa goes down wrong on his ankle and is helped to the sideline. 

7:03 p.m.:  Riley Ridley   makes a sideline catch for 8 yards.

6:44 p.m. TOUCHDOWN, Alabama. Tua Tagovailoa completes a pass to Jaylen Waddle who takes it 51 yards to the house. The extra point is good. Georgia 28, Alabama 21. 

6:39 p.m.: INTERCEPTION.  Tua Tagovailoa throws his second interception of the night. The pass intended for Alabama wide receiver Jaylen Waddle is picked off by Georgia defensive back J.R. Reed. 

6:32 p.m.: Rodrigo Blankenship's   30-yard field goal attempt is no good. 

6:29 p.m.:  Quarterback Jake Fromm passes to Isaac Nauta for a 55 yard gain.
