The Louisville Cardinals fell short of making the College Football Playoff last year. They were, according to both the CFP and AP, one of the teams receiving votes but not quite making it into either top 25. They lost their quarterback, Tyler Shough, to the NFL, but things could be looking up. FOX Sports insider Michael Cohen believes they could take the leap this season.
Insider: Look for Louisville to be in CFP conversation
Head coach Jeff Brohm is a bit of a quarterback guru in college. Countless times, he's turned afterthoughts not only into legitimate collegiate players but into NFL prospects. Tyler Shough, Jack Plummer, and Aidan O'Connell are all parts of NFL squads now, and they were once low-rated players playing under Brohm.
That's why Michael Cohen isn't too worried about losing Shough. He believes that Brohm can work his magic again and keep Louisville good and maybe even make them better. "Brohm’s next challenge is salvaging the career of former USC quarterback Miller Moss, the No. 142 overall transfer and No. 10 signal-caller in the portal. An in-state recruit, Moss waited his turn with the Trojans behind Heisman Trophy winner and eventual top overall pick Caleb Williams before finally winning the starting job last fallm" he said.
When he did get the chance, Moss did have great moments but struggled with poorly-timed interceptions. Brohm should be able to help fix that issue. The offense is buoyed by a great running back duo, which should help the quarterback. Eight defensive starters must be replaced, but this team is talented enough and has a good enough coach to make a Playoff run.
