After weeks of speculation about whether or not Nick Saban will return to coaching, we finally got an answer.

Saban said, despite the rumors, he had no plans to return, at least for now

Appearing on Fox and Friends, Saban cleared up the rumors.

“I never really had a thought about getting back into coaching until two days ago,” Saban said. “Miss Terry said I had to run the sweeper in the entire downstairs. While I was running the sweeper, the thought occurred to me, ‘When you were a coach, you had a heck of a lot better job than this.’ So that’s the only time I considered it.”

But he also added, “There is no opportunity that I know of right now that would enhance me to go back to coaching.”

Fox Sports' Colin Cowherd has been running with the rumor over the past few days that he thought the Cleveland Browns were pursuing Saban to come coach there and that they would sweeten the pot by drafting Arch Manning next year.

But Saban confirmed what his daughter Kristen said on social media last week, which is her father has no interest in returning to coaching and intends to stay retired.

What kind of deal would that be for Saban to return? One would guess one where he would have total control of the team, like he did at Alabama, and he’d probably request the same in the NFL, where he would be the coach and general manager of a team.

That might be the only way to draw him back in, but Saban seems to be satisfied with where he is in his life right now, at least for the time being.
