How long is Jam Miller out? Latest news, updates on Alabama RB's collarbone injury image

The Crimson Tide will open up the 2025 season on the road in a non-conference battle with Florida State. It's an important year for Kalen DeBoer, and he may have to start it without a key piece of the offense.

Returning running back Jam Miller is likely to miss the season opener against Florida State. The Bama back is dealing with an upper-body injury that he sustained during a team scrimmage over the weekend of Aug. 16. DeBoer did not take the chance to explain the injury and kept the details to a minimum, only referring to it as "upper-body."

Here are the latest injury updates for Miller, and how long he could be out.

Jam Miller injury

Per DeBoer, "Jam Miller suffered an upper-body injury in Saturday's scrimmage and went in for a procedure on Saturday evening." The Alabama head coach did not disclose any further details about the injury or the procedure Miller underwent.

Miller is the most experienced back in the Bama RB room. He led the team with 668 yards and seven touchdowns last season. In his absence, the Crimson Tide are expected to turn to some combination of redshirt sophomore Richard Young, sophomore Daniel Hill, senior transfer Dre Washington, who came over from Louisiana, and true freshman AK Dear.

On3's Brett McMurphy revealed that the upper body injury to Miller was to his collarbone. He confirmed the running back is out "indefinitely" and that now, the hope is that he is back by Sept. 27 when Alabama plays Georgia on the road.
