Former Alabama Crimson Tide football star and quarterback Jalen Milroe is now in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks after being taken in the third round of the 2025 draft.

The expectation is that Milroe will be a project in the NFL. There is no question about his elite athleticism, but the Alabama product does need to work on his accuracy and overall mechanics.

While there have been the ups and downs you'd expect from a developmental rookie like Milroe, he has begun to show flashes this offseason.

According to Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune, Milroe had his two best showings of the offseason as a passer during Seattle's minicamp this past week.

"The rookie third-round pick, a running quarterback who had accuracy issues throwing the ball in college at Alabama, had his best two passing days in minicamp of the six practices The News Tribune watched this offseason," Bell wrote.

"He zinged line-drive throws onto receivers’ hands running the third-team offense behind Darnold and backup Drew Lock," Bell added. "Milroe also showed deft touch with accurate, rainbow passes for completions of 40-plus yards."

While starter Sam Darnold and the first-team offense struggled over the two days, Milroe managed to shine in his reps, albeit against the third-team defense.

Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald was left impressed by the rookie signal-caller.

“You see the poise, the fundamental stuff that we’re asking, footwork and timing and reads,” Macdonald said. "But you don’t just do that by showing up every day. You have to be intentional and on record with his work ethic and stuff. That’s really impressive. He’s earned kind of that feeling of confidence right now. He’s earned that feeling going into the summer."

"Man, I feel great," Milroe told his head coach.

Milroe is currently slated to be the team's No. 3 quarterback behind Darnold and top backup, Drew Lock, but that doesn't mean he won't see the field in 2025.

Macdonald and general manager John Schneider have both said the plan is to get Milroe involved with a package of plays that utilizes his freak athleticism.

In terms of his goal of being the starter, Milroe isn't likely to get a shot until at least 2026. The Seahawks have an out in Darnold's contract after this season, and they could exercise it if Milroe shows enough.
