Mac Jones is the biggest loser after finding out that Brock Purdy is getting a “purdy” good extension: five years, $265 million with $181 million guaranteed.

Some people believe it’s a good extension, and some will believe…

“For what it's worth, Brock Purdy now makes more than 2x MVP Lamar Jackson.

That deal is going to age like milk.” - The Sportsocracy.

Jones was once talked about as a top-three draft pick and mocked to be drafted by the 49ers by multiple news sources, and one Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com, who even titled his 3.0 mock draft as “Daniel Jeremiah 2021 NFL mock draft 3.0: 49ers go all in on Mac Jones.”

It was amazing the night they drafted Trey Lance, and everyone in the NFL knew they messed up.

Look at where Lance is now.

If they had picked Mac Jones back in 2021, they may have been in the same situation they are in now, with Brock Purdy only a couple of years sooner.

Many knock Jones for his time in New England and in Jacksonville. I ask those people who were the best players he’s had to play with? It’s Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith by a country mile, the best running back is an argument between Brian Robinson Jr and Travis Etienne Jr.

Needless to say, the best players he has ever gotten to play with were in college with Nick Saban’s College Football Playoff-winning Alabama Crimson Tide. Rewind back to 2021 and select Mac Jones, you can’t tell me he wouldn’t have thrived with Trent Williams protecting him and throwing to Deebo Samuel and George Kittle.

Now, to sign Purdy to an extension after signing there in March is a real slap in the face to what could have been four years ago.
