Still smarting from a last-second loss to Texas, North Carolina will have to recover without one of its key players.

Junior forward Kennedy Meeks will miss at least two weeks with a bone bruise in his left knee, UNC announced Monday.

That means Meeks will miss a minimum of four games and potentially even the beginning of UNC’s conference schedule — Clemson on Dec. 30 and Georgia Tech on Jan. 2 — should his recovery run longer than expected.

Meeks is averaging 12.3 points and 7.4 rebounds, and is shooting 59.5 percent from the field so far for UNC.
