The San Antonio Spurs could be aggressive at the 2025 NBA draft, leveraging the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NBA draft, likely to be Rutgers star Dylan Harper, in a trade to land Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns.
ESPN’s Shams Charania linked the Spurs to Durant and Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo during an appearance on Tuesday’s edition of “The Pat McAfee Show.”
“[The Spurs] have a ton of assets. They have tradeable contracts. They have the number two pick, they have the number 14 pick in this year's draft. They have a bunch of tradeable picks as well, moving forward,” Charania said.
“Whether there's a player like a Giannis Antetokounmpo. I think Kevin Durant's another guy, where there was mutual interest at the deadline. I think they're going to be looking very actively to see, ‘is there a wing player we can bring in that can take us over the top?’”
Charania predicted a historic NBA offseason of mass trade movement.
“This is the most, I think, anticipation team executives have had over an offseason,” Charania said.
“I think this offseason might be the most craziest ever.
“The parity of the league, it’s so thin right now. You can win a championship or you might be falling into the lottery.”
For what it’s worth, the Brooklyn Nets have been ruled out as a potential suitor for the No. 2 pick and Harper.
