UCLA Athletics announced a notable addition to Mick Cronin’s men’s basketball staff Wednesday as the head coach enters his seventh season with the Bruins.
Illinois graduate Max Feldman will join the Bruins in an assistant general manager role this season.
Feldman’s responsibilities will involve him in recruiting and player development, plus he’ll serve as a liaison with university compliance and branding.
“We're excited to add Max to our program in a role that can assist us from a recruiting and roster management standpoint,” Cronin said. “Max has worked within the game at the grassroots level and has really impressed us with his knowledge of players, talent evaluation and relationships across the industry. He will be an asset for our coaching staff and we are looking forward to having him with us in Westwood.”
After graduating from Illinois in 2022 with a degree in sports management, Feldman has spent the last few years working for MADE Hoops as a national scouting analyst. He was promoted to director of scouting in November 2024.
Prior, he worked in basketball operations for Nike Meanstreets, spent three months as an NBA Pre-Draft Process intern with Priority Sports and was an analyst for Rivals.

“Feldman will serve the men's basketball program in a variety of avenues, including roster management, recruiting databases and player development,” the UCLA press release read.
The Bruins made a less-than-stellar Big Ten Conference debut last year, losing their first and only tournament game to No. 5-seeded Wisconsin as a No. 4 seed, 86-70 in the quarterfinals. Things didn’t get much better when March Madness came around: a No. 7-seeded UCLA fell 67-58 to a No. 2-seeded Tennessee in the second round.
This season, Cronin and his team will undoubtedly be looking to improve on last year’s performances.
