Hannah Stuelke is going to have a busy offseason, as the University of Iowa senior-to-be competes for a spot on the United States team for the AmeriCup.
Stuelke will head off to Colorado Springs, Colorado for several days beginning June 17. She will be joined by 20 other players who were selected by USA Basketball Women's Junior National Team Committee.
Following team trials, a squad will be picked out of the 21 to head to training camp before departing for the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup. That event takes place June 28-July 6 in Santiago, Chile.
Joining Stuelke, who is one of seven players making their USA Basketball debuts, are Iowa State stars Audi Crooks and Addy Brown. Kara Lawson of Duke is the head coach with assistants DeLisha Milton-Jones from Old Dominion and Jennie Baranczyk of Oklahoma. Jim Flanery from Creighton and Michigan State's Roby Fralick will assist at the trials.
"On behalf of the USA Basketball Women's Junior National Committee, I am proud to announce a talented group of 21 athletes who will compete for their place on the 2025 USA Women's AmeriCup team," said Cori Close, USA Basketball Women's Junior National Team Committee chair. "About half of these young women have already claimed a gold medal with USA Basketball, so they bring great international experience with them.
"They are sure to be fierce competitors at trials. We look forward to choosing the group who will best represent the U.S. at the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup."
Stuelke, a 6-foot-2 forward from Cedar Rapids, was named second team all-Big Ten last season, surpassing 1,000 career points. She averaged almost 13 points and eight rebounds a night for the Hawkeyes.
