It didn't take fired Iowa basketball coach Fran McCaffery long to find a new home.

His landing spot is in a place not many would've predicted.

McCaffery will reportedly become the next men's basketball coach at the University of Pennsylvania in the Ivy League, according to Mid-Major Madness reporter Sam Federman. He writes that a deal between the sides is "imminent."

Penn is McCaffery's alma mater.

Earlier this month, McCaffery was surprisingly dismissed by the Hawkeyes despite being the winningest coach in program history with 297 victories in 15 seasons.

Steve Donahue was most recently Penn's coach, but the Quakers appear to be taking a big swing here to return to relevance.

Penn's most recent Ivy League title came in 2018 under Donahue.

McCaffery was a prominent mid-major coach before going to Iowa, having previously led Lehigh, UNC Greensboro and Siena.
