Who's ready to dance?

Survive and advance is the name of the game, but Iowa cruised to a 91-65 win over Holy Cross in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Crusaders, who won their First Four game Thursday, put up a fight at the beginning of the matchup. They traded the lead with the Hawkeyes through the first quarter, and Iowa had only a two-point lead after the opening frame.

Iowa regrouped before halftime, outscoring its visitors 25-9 in the second quarter. Holy Cross gave it a shot but ultimately couldn’t keep up with the No. 1 seed on its home court.

Caitlin Clark had some frustrations, only going 3-9 from the 3-point line and finishing with six of Iowa’s 14 turnovers. While not her cleanest game, she recorded a game-high 27 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds. Fellow senior and captain Kate Martin also had a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

The Hawkeyes will continue their pursuit of a national championship when they face the winner of West Virginia vs. Princeton in the second round of the tournament Monday. It’ll be Clark’s final performance at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The Sporting News tracked Iowa's first-round March Madness game against Holy Cross, including results and highlights from Clark.
