The Philadelphia 76ers could be in a position to make a midseason swing.

Last season was a complete disaster for the Sixers. After signing Paul George and making other moves to be viewed as a clear winner of the 2024 offseason, injuries and a lack of chemistry prevented Philadelphia from doing anything of note.

With a year bad enough to end up with the No. 3 pick and take VJ Edgecombe, Philadelphia is now in a position to bounce back for 2026. Still a potential title contender when healthy, the 76ers could also be ready to make a splash after the season begins.

As everyone already knows, Daryl Morey has never been afraid to shake his roster up in the middle of the season, and Andre Drummond could be the perfect player to ship out to make that type of move next season. As ClutchPoints’ Matty Breisch pointed out, Drummond’s expiring small deal could be perfect for a contender looking for a big man, such as the Los Angeles Lakers.

While Breisch also pointed out that the 76ers would likely have moved on from Drummond already in an ideal scenario, there should be a market for the rebounding machine at some point next season. Still a solid option to be on the floor when Joel Embiid is unavailable, Drummond’s role in Philadelphia should give him a chance to showcase his skills and increase his trade value.

Getting Drummond to a more ideal situation and Philadelphia getting the flexibility it wants are a couple of positives in a potential deal, but the right suitor has to pop up to make it a reality.
