The Philadelphia 76ers currently hold the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, following a disappointing season in which they finished with a 25-57 record, falling well short of their expectations. However, they may be looking to move up the board, according to one NBA Insider.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that the Sixers have had talks with the San Antonio Spurs to move up to the No. 2 pick, as Philadelphia has reportedly narrowed its focus to four prospects the team would like to select.
Among those players, the 76ers are targeting Baylor forward VJ Edgecomb. The team has already held workouts with him and remains highly interested in him. They reportedly intend to also host Rutgers forward Ace Bailey for workouts.
Edgecomb thrived during his lone season at Baylor, averaging 15.0 points per game, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists on 43.6% shooting from the field. Meanwhile, Bailey has caught the attention of Sixers fans thanks to his height and athleticism, which has drawn him comparisons to Paul George.
Dylan Harper, another top prospect entering this year's draft, has attracted the attention of the top teams in the lottery, notably the Spurs, who appeared to be targeting the standout guard.
If the 76ers can move up in the draft, they should have their choice of any of the top talents this year, except for Cooper Flagg, who is widely expected to get his name called by the Dallas Mavericks.
With a top pick in this year's draft, along with picking healthy Joel Embiid and Paul George, who is expected to be back next season, the 76ers can quickly return to contention in the Eastern Conference.
