There has been considerable discussion surrounding the Philadelphia 76ers and their plans for the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Reports indicate the 76ers are looking to move up the draft board, possibly to No. 2, the pick currently owned by the San Antonio Spurs.
The 76ers are believed to be eyeing several prospects to come out this year. Notably, Ace Bailey and Baylor's V.J. Edgecomb both are expected to be picked high in this year's draft.
Bleacher Report's Gregg Swartz predicts that the Philadelphia 76ers will hold on to the No. 3 overall pick as opposed to trading it.
"As tempting as it would be to get off of George's $160 million-plus over the next three years and bring on Durant in his place, this is an extremely short-sighted move for Philly," Swartz wrote.
"The 76ers will do the smart thing here and not use the No. 3 overall pick as a get-out-of-jail-free card for the George contract."

The 76ers made a splash last offseason by signing Paul George to a 4-year, $160 million contract. However, George regressed in his first season in Philadelphia. Last season, he averaged 16.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in 41 games.
He struggled with injuries this season, which derailed his and the Philadelphia 76ers' overall performance on the court. They finished with a record of 25-57.
Coming into this offseason. The 76ers are in a strong position with the No.3 overall pick in 2025.
They'll likely have the top pick have their choice of whatever prospect remains after the Spurs and Mavericks pick
When healthy, George is one of the best players in the league, and with the addition of another lottery pick, it would only make the 76ers better in the long run.
It's uncertain if the 76ers will move from the No.3 overall pick to George. One thing is for sure: it's hard to count them with Joel Embiid, who remains one of the best centers in the league, and Tyrese Maxey has proven to be an All-Star when healthy.
