The Western Conference Finals series between the Timberwolves and Mavericks is heading back to Minneapolis.
The Timberwolves avoided a sweep at the hands of the Mavericks with a 105-100 victory in Game 4 on Tuesday night. Game 5, another do-or-die contest for the Wolves, will be played in Minnesota on Thursday night.
Dallas had taken the first three games of the series in come-from-behind fashion, but Minnesota held onto its late lead in Game 4. Anthony Edwards scored a game-high 29 points, and Karl-Anthony Towns added 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting in the win.
Edwards and Towns finally outplayed Mavericks stars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving after struggling to start the series. Dallas' one-two punch combined to score 44 points but shot just 33.3 percent from the field in the loss.
No NBA team has ever rallied out of a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-seven series, though the Celtics did force a Game 7 in last year's Eastern Conference Finals after trailing 3-0 against the Heat. And, though it is undeniably an uphill climb, Minnesota is now 3-0 this postseason when facing elimination.
