John Wall wasn’t on the court for the Wizards' 105-101 exhibition win over the Bucks because he had more important work to do back in D.C.
Washington’s All-Star point guard spent Saturday raising money to fight leukemia and lymphoma while honoring the memory of a special young girl who touched his heart.

Wall sponsored a team of walkers called Miyah’s Troupe in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk. Wall’s group was named after Damiyah “Miyah” Telemaque-Nelson, a 5-year-old with whom he became close before her death last December.
Wizards coach Randy Wittman told Wall it was OK to sit out the exhibition.
“This is a back-to-back," Wittman said via The Washington Post. "I wasn’t going to play him anyway. And so, hey, if we got players that are committed to that kind of stuff, I don’t have a problem sending a guy back to do that in the preseason. So I give John a lot of credit. He wanted to be there with her mother and he had the opportunity to do that.”
