Hawks ink Dennis Schroder to a healthy four-year extension image

Dennis Schroder's season got off to a great start even before he set foot on the court. 

The Hawks signed the young point guard to a four-year extension worth $70 million, according to ESPN

It's the second big display of confidence the Hawks have shown in the 23-year-old this year. Atlanta traded away all-star point guard Jeff Teague in the offseason and recently let veteran backups Jarret Jack and Will Bynum go.

The German has increased his scoring, assists and minutes in each of his previous seasons, averaging career-highs of 11.0 points and 4.4 assists in 20.3 minutes last season. Look for that trend to continue this year as he'll be counted on to run the Hawks' offense.
